Here’s a summary of the eligibility criteria for candidates interested in running for the various offices in the 2025 CUALA Elections
Eligibility for the Office of President
In addition to being in good standing, a candidate for the Office of the President must:
- Be a graduate of Covenant University’s full-time undergraduate programme
- Have graduated at least 7 years prior to elections
- Must be a previous CUALA VP or served in a recognised leadership capacity within CUALA, delivering impactful projects
- Be a practitioner of Covenant University’s core values
- Have a heart of service and be passionate about the advancement of the Alumni community
- Be a financially responsible member of CUALA (no outstanding dues)
- Be a business professional at mid-level management (at least) or owner/co-owner of a financially stable business or social enterprise.
- Have been actively involved with Alumni activities (projects, programmes, and initiatives) within the last year
- Have a proven record of effectively leading a diverse team
- Be able to work and lead remotely
- Be willing to commit significant time to work on CUALA matters
- Must not have been adjudged by the Performance Management Committee to have failed in any previous leadership position within CUALA
Eligibility for the Office of Vice President
In addition to being in good standing, a candidate for any of the Vice President positions must:
- Be a graduate of Covenant University’s full-time undergraduate programme
- Have graduated at least 3 years prior to elections
- Be a practitioner of Covenant University’s core values
- Have a heart of service and be passionate about the advancement of the Alumni community
- Be a financially responsible member of CUALA (no outstanding dues)
- Be a gainfully employed professional or an owner or co-owner of a financially stable business or social enterprise.
- Have been actively involved with Alumni activities (projects, programmes, and initiatives) within the last year
- Be able to work effectively with a diverse team
- Be able to work and lead remotely
- Be willing to commit sufficient time to work on CUALA matters
- Must not have been adjudged by the Performance Management Committee to have failed in any previous leadership position within CUALA
N.B Candidates for the Vice President of University Relations must be residents of Canaanland
Eligibility for Chapter and Flight Leads
In addition to being in good standing, a candidate for the Chapter and Flight Lead offices must:
- Be a graduate of Covenant University’s full-time undergraduate programme
- Be a practitioner of Covenant University’s core values
- Have a heart of service and be passionate about advancing the Alumni community, especially their chapters and flights.
- Have been actively involved with Alumni and Covenant University activities (projects, programmes, and initiatives)
- Be a gainfully employed professional or be an owner/co-owner of a financially stable business or social enterprise.
- Be able to organize and manage diverse groups.
- Be able to work and lead remotely
- Be willing to commit sufficient time to work on CUALA matters
- Be a resident or co-located within the geographical region of the Chapter.
- Be an active Chapter member (e.g., participate in chapter activities or events), except for newly formed Chapters.
- Possess “settled status” within the geographical region of the Chapter.
